CTCL Scholarship Application

The Colleges That Change Lives Scholarship was established in 2016 to honor the 20th anniversary of the publication of the first edition of Loren Pope’s classic book and the 10th anniversary of the non-profit organization, Colleges That Change Lives.

Since first appearing in 1996, four versions of Colleges That Change Lives have been published, each update offering valuable insights about the college search, as well as profiles of 40 small, residential, liberal arts schools that deliver a quality education to thousands of students each year. The non-profit Colleges That Change Lives organization is dedicated to preserving the author’s message, and this scholarship is yet another way to ensure that the CTCL experience becomes a reality for even more students.

Two scholarships have been awarded in most years. However, CTCL received a much appreciated, anonymous gift of $10,000 in late 2020, which will enable us to offer 3 CTCL Scholarships in 2021 as well as invest to build the scholarship fund for the future

The 2021 CTCL Scholarships of $1,000/year (renewable for up to four years) will be awarded to 3 students who will be attending a CTCL-member college or university. To apply, complete parts I and II of the application by the deadlines for each:

I. Submit the online application before 11:59 PM (Eastern Daylight Time) March 26, 2021.

II. Submit the following two documents by email to scholarships@ctcl.org before 11:59 PM (Eastern Daylight Time), April 8, 2021:

  • at least one copy of an admission letter from a CTCL-member school
  • a copy of Page 1 from your Student Aid Report from the FAFSA (see an example here)
***If you do not complete the FAFSA and therefore cannot submit a Student Aid Report, you should indicate this on the online application. If your application is selected as a finalist entry, CTCL will contact you directly for more information.***

Notification of scholarship decisions will be emailed to all applicants on April 21, 2021.
