  • Hope is one of only 10 church-related colleges and universities nationwide highlighted in the book Putting Students First: How Colleges Develop Students Purposefully. The institutions were included specifically for being "individually and collectively distinguished and distinctive in fostering holistic student development."
  • Hope ranks in the top 5% among private, 4-year colleges in terms of alumni earning Ph.D. degrees.
  • Hope College continues to hold more grants for summer collaborative student-faculty research from the National Science Foundation (NSF) than any other undergraduate college in the country.
  • Hope students frequently make presentations concerning their research at prominent professional meetings in all areas of the natural and applied sciences. During 2008-09, examples of conferences included: the American Chemical Society, American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, American Physics Society, Geological Society of America, and many others. Students also gave presentations at conferences that were geared toward undergraduate research, and that included the annual conference of the Michigan Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters, the National Celebration of Undergraduate Research, and the "Posters on the Hill" session in Washington, D.C., organized by the Council on Undergraduate Research.
  • The College's Phelps Scholars Program has been recognized by the Association of American Colleges and Universities among only 32 institutions nationwide as an exemplary diversity program in higher education.
  • Hope is the only private, 4-year liberal arts college with national accreditation in art, dance, music, and theatre. The College has also received national accreditation in Athletic Training, Chemistry, Education, Engineering, Nursing, and Social Work.
  • Hope has opened four new facilities within the last six years: A. Paul Schaap Science Center ($36 million), Martha Miller Center for Global Communication ($12 million), the DeVos Fieldhouse ($22 million), and the Van Andel Soccer Stadium ($5.3 million). Significant renovation has been completed on academic facilities Graves Hall ($5.7 million) and Lubbers Hall ($3.5 million) in that same time frame.
