• The Hiram Plan (also called the 12-3 plan), our unique semester structure, is designed to give you the opportunity to gain valuable, intensive, real-world experiences. During the first 12 weeks of the semester, you’ll take a full course load of three or four classes. For the final three weeks, you’ll focus on a single, intensive course – in the classroom, the field, or abroad.
• Our campus actively addresses sustainability, diversity, and inclusion in a variety of ways: the TREE House, reducing waste through composting, promoting reusable packaging, using renewable energy with several solar panel arrays, promoting knowledge of cultural and ethnic diversity through the Office of Division and Inclusion, and providing support services to enhance the success of historically underrepresented minority students.

• One of Hiram’s greatest treasures is the James H. Barrow Biological Field Station, a 550-acre ecologically diverse natural “classroom,” located just three miles from the main campus. As an active research and educational facility, the Field Station benefits students of all majors.
• The Garfield Center for Public Leadership is an opportunity for studentsto gain an understanding of foreign and domestic public policy, the American presidents, and the issues that shared their presidencies. You can attend seminars, events, lectures by guest speakers, small group discussions, and study tours.

Internships, research, and global understanding top the list of experiences employers desire for college graduates. That’s why all Hiram students are required to do one of the following:

• Complete a paid internship in an area of interest to you.
• Go on a study away or study abroad trip.
• Conduct independent research with a faculty member.

Ninety-four percent of Hiram graduates are employed, continuing their education, completing an internship, or on an entrepreneurial endeavor.

After graduation, alumni make their mark on the world, leaving companies and communities better than they found them.

Hiram College offers a test-free admission policy. Standardized testing isn’t always an accurate measurement of a student’s academic abilities. We look at the whole “you,” including all academic and extra-curricular merits, not your results on one standardized test.
