2018 CTCL Scholarship Application

The Colleges That Change Lives Scholarship was established in 2016 to honor the 20th anniversary of the publication of the first edition of Loren Pope’s classic book and the 10th anniversary of the non-profit organization, Colleges That Change Lives.

Since first appearing in 1996, four versions of Colleges That Change Lives have been published, each update offering valuable insights about the college search, as well as profiles of 40 small, residential, liberal arts schools that deliver a quality education to thousands of students each year. The non-profit College That Change Lives organization is dedicated to preserving and promoting the book’s message, and this scholarship is yet another way to ensure that the CTCL experience becomes a reality for even more students.

In 2018, the CTCL Scholarship ($1,000 per year, renewable for up to four years with a maximum award of $4,000 per student) will be awarded to new first-year students, including international students and undocumented students, who choose to attend a CTCL-member college or university. The application process includes two components:

1. The online application must be completed and submitted by March 23, 2018 (Midnight, Eastern Standard Time).
2. Copies of admission letter(s) from at least one CTCL-member school must be emailed to by April 7, 2018 (Midnight, Eastern Standard Time).

The CTCL Board reviews the applications and selects the recipients. The number of scholarships awarded will be determined by the number of qualified applicants and the funds available at the time. Awardees will be notified of their selection by email on April 19, 2018, and CTCL will publish information about the winners shortly thereafter.
