McDaniel receives $2 million gift

There’s no telling what Robert Lee Madison might have done with his Western Maryland / McDaniel College degree. The tall, blonde, handsome only child of Miriam and shipping executive Bill Madison of Bethesda, Md., died of pneumonia in the early 1970s before he could begin his studies on the Hill. But now, because of a $2 million bequest from the estate of his mother and her second husband, Col. H. Howard Hayden, Madison’s promise and potential may be realized in the students who will receive Robert Lee Madison Memorial Scholarship funds.
